How You'll Learn to Keep America Rolling

The RDTC training program runs for three weeks—a total of 17 days.

The program is divided between classroom and hands-on driving. On our closed course, 'the Range,' you’ll be put through a series of realistic exercises. In this controlled environment, we will help you understand the concepts behind backing, shifting and turning a truck and trailer combination.

As you gain confidence, you’ll drive on low-traffic roadways and city streets with tractor-trailer combinations. Your RDTC education will prepare you for your Commercial Drivers License exam...and the next step in your career.

RDTC trains you in all aspects of the industry - from driving skills to Federal regulations to basic mechanical functions. RDTC prepares you for the driver's seat.

WEEK 1 (Monday–Saturday)

Every journey begins with a first step. You’ll start yours by learning essential driving skills, motor carrier regulations, safety and some of the basic mechanical systems of a diesel tractor and trailer rig. And you’ll get plenty of hands-on practice in the classroom and behind the wheel at RDTC’s driving Range. You’ll hit the road for your first time by Thursday of this week as you begin to understand and practice basic backing skills.

WEEK 2 (Monday–Saturday)

You’ll be surprised by how much you’ve already learned after just one week with RDTC’s certified experienced instructors. In the second week, your driving skills and knowledge will quickly advance with more classroom lessons, practice driving on the Range, and driving on roads and highways. You’ll refine backing skills and learn how to manage your vehicle in close-quarter areas in a controlled environment, giving you the self-confidence to handle your rig on the open road.

WEEK 3 (Monday–Friday)

During the third week, you’ll refine driving, routing and paperwork skills as new road and truck knowledge is added. Advanced shifting techniques and driving runs on more congested streets will take place. You’ll also learn how to handle your vehicle under various road conditions. You’ll know your way around a truck, shift like a pro and handle common roadside mechanical repairs. A thorough review and practice test prepares you for your Class A Commercial Driver’s License exam, allowing you to easily shift gears to the next level in your career.
