Make the Shift to an Over The Road Driving Career
If you want a great job with excellent pay, top benefits for you and your family and solid job security, a career in the trucking industry could be the perfect opportunity for you.
When it comes to top paying careers, over-the-road truck driving is among the best jobs available. The average salary for a Roehl Transport driver, for example, is right on par with college and university professors. In fact, the average Roehl Transport driver's salary is significantly higher than registered nurses and school teachers with some drivers taking home more pay than computer scientists and systems analysts.
Quality trained drivers are in great demand
Commercial truck drivers usually earn well over $36,000 to $42,000 their first year, and experienced drivers can make $55,000 a year and more! Add to that health insurance benefits for drivers and their families, paid vacations and holidays, retirement plans and other benefits.
Three Week CDL Training Program
Week 1
In week one at Roehl Driver Training Center (RDTC) you will be shown and have the opportunity to perform, shifting, backing, cornering and the basics of a vehicle inspection. In fact, by the end of the first week you will be driving on public roadways under the watchful eyes of your instructor.
Week 2
Week two will bring a whole new set of challenges. You will experience driving in town among the traffic and learn what it means to drive protectively. We practice driving with all motorists in mind and that includes driving to protect others. During the second week you’ll talk with a recruiter and determine which driving opportunity is best for you.
Week 3
By the time you start week three, you will be gaining valuable experience and growing in confidence. Most of your driving time will be spent in the city learning to corner, shift and back up proficiently. By mid-week you will test for your CDL.
The program is divided between classroom and range and road. Range and road is the portion of the course you spend driving and backing. We use a series of realistic exercises, in a controlled environment to help you understand the concepts behind backing, shifting and turning a tractor-trailer. We use flatbed trailers and van trailers as part of your instruction.
The majority of your course instruction is spent in the truck, on the road or on our range. Of the total 160 hours, 110 hours are spent outside receiving instruction and the other 50 hours in the classroom.
Tuition Assistance and Reimbursement
You can afford RDTC
First, you'll find RDTC tuition is much lower than most other private truck driving schools. On top of that, the RDTC Admissions Department offers tuition assistance (if you're eligible) to help you earn your CDL. Up to $2800. Leaving you with the a maximum out of pocket expense of $535 for lodging, processing and a DOT physical / drug screen.
If you don't qualify for tuition assistance you can take advantage of our tuition reimbursement program. With a guaranteed job at Roehl Transport, upon completion of the CDL training program through RDTC, you'll start to recoup your training costs upon completion of 60,000 paid solo miles, or 120,000 team miles. That payment of $925 dollars will be followed by payments of $312.50 for every 10,000 miles until you reach the maximum benefit of $2800.00.
