Great Paying Trucking Jobs Come with some sacrifice. Trucking Companies with a Rider Policy helps you connect with family.
In order to participate in the Rider Program, you must not have been involved in a preventable accident during the previous 12 months and you must not be participating in a performance improvement plan.
If you joined us as a student driver (driving school graduate), you must wait 6 months after you complete the training program before becoming eligible to take a rider. If you are an experienced driver, you become eligible to take a passenger after 90 days of employment if you have achieved an acceptable safety record.
The passenger you carry must be either your spouse or your child of 10 years or older. A stepchild or child for whom you have been appointed legal guardian will be treated as a child. You may not take any other passengers. You may take only one passenger at a time.
Only one member of a team may bring along a passenger at any one time. Teams should communicate to ensure that each member has the opportunity to participate in the Rider program. When the vehicle is in motion, the passenger may be buckled into the passenger seat or may be in the bunk if the restraining devices are used.
Your passenger must be protected by a passenger insurance policy in case of an accident. There is a charge for this protection, which can vary with the length of time the passenger will be riding with you. You must obtain this coverage before your rider joins you in the truck.
DOT regulations require that you carry with you written permission from Roehl to carry a passenger. When you contact the Benefits Department, paperwork will be sent for you to complete and return. This process may take some time even using a fax machine, so allow time enough for proper completion before you start your trip. Call the Benefits Department to learn more about passenger insurance.
