Medical Insurance Overview for Truck Drivers
Our medical insurance includes prescription drug coverage. There are four different coverage options: Single, Single and Spouse, Single and Kids, Family.
Your share of the cost is paid through payroll deduction and will be paid with pre-tax dollars. A Summary Plan Description (SPD) and plan ID cards are sent to you when you join the plan. The SPD lists the specific benefits and contribution levels for each plan. If you elect to participate in our medical insurance plan, you must also participate in our disability coverage.
If your spouse is eligible for health insurance through another employer, he or she is not eligible for primary coverage under our plan. If you are covered under your spouse’s insurance through another employer and your spouse’s insurance is terminated, you may apply for coverage under our plan within 30 days of the termination of benefits from your spouse’s plan.
Medical Insurance Costs for Roehl Drivers
We pay the lion’s share of the cost of your medical insurance, but a part of the expense is shared with you. In addition to your premiums, you’ll pay for:
- A deductible (the first dollars of medical expenses before the insurance begins).
- Co-insurance—That is, the plan pays a percentage of the claim and you pay a percentage. Once you reach the co-insurance maximum, the plan pays 100%.
- Co-payments—You’ll make a flat dollar payment for office visits, surgeries or emergency room use in the network.
The deductible and co-insurance amounts are different for in-network versus out-of-network services. These amounts are tracked separately—that is, the in-network amounts don’t count towards out-of-network services and vice versa.
Roehl medical insurance helps protect you and your family from devastating financial loss due to illness or injury. Good medical insurance is critical for good medical care, especially for over the road truck drivers.
