Who's eligible for Roehl's benefits plans?
Full-time employees of Roehl Transport, Inc. are eligible to participate in the Roehl benefits program. Our HomeTime Plus fleets, 7-On / 7-Off and 7-4 / 7-3 drivers, are considered fulltime employees for benefits.
Your lawful spouse (as defined under the Defense of Marriage Act of 1996) and unmarried dependent children (up to age 19, or 23 if a full-time student) are also eligible to participate. If your spouse is eligible for health insurance at their employer, they must take that coverage in order to receive secondary coverage under the Roehl plan. Proof of your child’s full-time student status must be provided to the Benefits Enrollment Department. Unmarried children of any age who are disabled (disability must have occurred before the child turned 19) and depend on you for financial support are also eligible to participate.
When Does My Coverage Begin?
When the enrollment requirements are met, your coverage begins:
- if you are hired as an experienced driver, on the first day of the month following 30 consecutive days of active employment. (Experienced drivers sometimes participate in our mentor program and that does not impact “experience” status. If you’re hired in our mentor program, you’ll still be considered an experienced driver.)
- if you are hired as a student driver (requires OJT — participating in our Safety and Job Skills Training Program), on the first day of the month following 90 consecutive days of active employment; or
- if you are a full-time non-driving employee, on the first day of the month following 60 consecutive days of active employment.
If you’ve enrolled your dependents, their coverage will begin when your coverage begins.
When and how do I enroll?
You can enroll in the month following your date of hire. You enroll by calling our Benefits Enrollment Department at 800-968-4082. A benefits counselor will discuss your options with you and will enroll you in the plans you select. The counselor will verify your personal information —social security number, dependents, beneficiaries, dates of birth, etc. Please have this information ready before you call.
The benefit counselor will then go through each of the benefit selections for which you’re eligible, the level of coverage and the cost (if any) to you.
Review your benefits confirmation statement that is sent to you after enrollment. After you have completed the enrollment process, you will receive in the mail your benefit confirmation statement and any other applicable paperwork that may need a “wet” signature. Review these documents for accuracy and send back any signed forms as soon as possible. Please note that if applications that require your signature are not returned promptly, your coverage will not take effect.
