Disability Insurance for Roehl Over the Road Truck Drivers
Disability Insurance
Our disability plan is open to all eligible employees; however, if you opt in to the medical insurance plan you must take part in the disability insurance plan.
Our disability plans provide a weekly benefit if you are wholly and continuously disabled and prevented from performing any and all of the duties of your occupation because of an accident or illness unrelated to your occupation.
- If you want disability coverage, you'll need to enroll. To enroll, call the Benefits Enrollment Department at 800-968-4082.
- The premium is a percentage of your gross weekly pay and is paid through payroll deduction with pre-tax dollars.
- Disability coverage is effective on the first day of the month following six (6) months of continuous employment.
- Our plan is divided into short-term and long-term coverage.
| Short Term | Long Term | |
|---|---|---|
| Waiting Period | Injury – 0 days Illness - 7 days |
6 months |
| Maximum Benefit Duration | 26 weeks | Payable to Social Security normal retirement age |
| Benefit Amount | 50% of the employee’s weekly salary or wage | 60% of the employee’s monthly salary or wage to a maximum of $6,000 per month |
| If you are disabled because of any work related or non-work related illness or injury, Roehl Transport will continue
to pay the company portion of the health insurance cost for the first 12 weeks you are off work within a 12-month
period. As an employee, you will only be responsible for your share of the health insurance cost for the first 12 weeks. If you are off for more than 12 weeks within any 12-month period, you will be responsible for the full cost of your health insurance coverage. This amount includes your usual weekly premium plus the company's weekly contribution to the premium. |

Employee Assistance Plan (EAP)
If you're enrolled in our Disability Plan, you are automatically enrolled in our EAP. Counselors with a Masters or Doctoral degree in counseling are available 24/7 to take your call.
After an initial telephone assessment, the counselor can refer you for up to five face-to-face sessions with an emotional counselor, financial planner or a legal advisor, or a combination of the three. There are no additional charges for these services.
Workers' Compensation Insurance
Workers' compensation insurance provides compensation for most medical expenses resulting from illness, injury or death incurred while performing your job. It also provides partial payment of your wages for time lost from your job as a result of a work-related injury.
Any illness or injury which occurs due to job-related causes must be reported to the Safety Department or your Fleet Manager immediately and a Personal Injury Report completed. Personal Injury Report forms may be obtained from the Safety Department.
If you elect the medical insurance coverage, you will automatically be enrolled in the disability coverage. Otherwise, you'll need to enroll in order to be covered
